In the Bourne Valley, groundwater levels are high and rising. In the last 3 months, prolonged, higher than average rainfall (205mm) has been recorded at Andover. In the last week, the level at Vernham Dean has risen by 1.65m. From Friday (07/03/2025), groundwater flooding is expected to affect a small number of cellars in Upton. Septic tanks will also struggle to operate properly. Currently, we do not expect significant impacts to property at Vernham Dean, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Stoke or St Mary Bourne. From today 06/03/2025 until Monday 10/03/2025, only small amounts of rain are forecast. We expect groundwater levels in the valley to peak within the next week. We continue to monitor the forecast. In Upton, please remove any valuables from cellars and if you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure they can operate. This Flood Alert will be updated by 18:00 on Thursday 13/03/2025.
